FocusCloseAp

FocusCloseAp is a sophisticated Collision Risk Assessment Tool designed for operational collision avoidance. It can process data from multiple sources, including CDM, orbital information in CCSDS standards (OEM, OPM), and TLE catalogues, to execute comprehensive conjunction screenings. The software calculates several levels of close approach warnings in CDM format and generates additional analysis products and plots. Its advanced scheduling features enable automated and regular processing with minimal user interaction, notifying users of the program’s results. FocusCloseAp detects approaches between satellites and external objects using orbital information. If a close conjunction is identified, it can calculate collision avoidance maneuvers. The system supports large fleets of satellites with integrated input forms, reports, and optimized calculations. It efficiently filters catalogues by applying a classic apogee-perigee filter, followed by a smart filter to exclude objects that cannot produce a close conjunction, and uses a precise root finder to determine the exact moment of closest approach. Outputs include CDM for computed events, a historical CDM database, and extra analysis products such as B-Plane plots, Relative distance plots, Uncertainty evolution plots around TCA, Events history plots, Scaled Probability of Collision Analysis, and Parametrical study of Collision Avoidance Maneuvers.
