Viasat’s L-band mobile transceivers are designed to enhance situational awareness for warfighters by increasing capacity for greater throughput capabilities and delivering faster refresh rates for position location updates. These transceivers are currently deployed on over 100,000+ tactical platforms within the U.S. military, powering next-generation situational awareness systems like the Blue Force Tracking 2 (BFT2) program. They offer flexible customization to meet diverse mission requirements, operating on agnostic systems for both sovereign and coalition-interoperable networks, across ground and space segments. The BFT2 system, specifically, provides faster position location information (PLI) refresh rates, timely command & control (C2) communications across the battlefield, and improved network efficiency, ultimately reducing the Department of Defense’s total operational expenditure for this capability.
