About
The Model 220 is a high-performance rotary servo electromechanical actuator that integrates rare earth brushless DC motors, a magnetic encoder, and position loop control electronics into one compact package. Its robust structural design, low weight to power performance, and customizable features make it well-suited for aerospace and unmanned airborne platforms due, to its high performance and small envelope. It can also be used in a variety of applications as a self-contained servo motion solution. Although specified with a 7,500-hour life, Moog has tested the Model 220 actuator to meet 16,000 hours, with the unit still operating within specifications. Features include a stainless steel spur gear train, 8 ball bearings, machined aluminum structure and housing, and a stainless steel output shaft. It offers high temperature capability, contactless shaft position sensor, differential analog position feedback, and can be controlled via full RS-485 digital or RC / PWM analog. Modifiable parameters include total electrical stroke angle, null position, direction orientation, torque limit, loss of signal behavior, PID constants, dead band, telemetry scaling, and feedforward gains, all programmable via a GUI interface.
