Multi-purpose actuators and servoactuators are standard building blocks used in a variety of systems and can be utilized for diverse high-performance applications. Moog’s expertise spans the design, development, qualification, and manufacturing of both rotary and linear actuators and servoactuators. These products serve military platforms such as aircraft, target drones, and unmanned air, land, and sea vehicles, as well as a broad range of commercial applications including regional and business aircraft, unmanned agricultural and inspection drones, automated guided vehicles in warehouses, and industrial process machinery.
Moog’s rotary actuators and servoactuators incorporate brush type DC motors, utilizing both Alnico and rare earth magnets. These units are designed with either separate or embedded analog or digital amplifiers, spur gearing, and potentiometers for feedback. Typical applications for these rotary units include UAVs, RPVs, target drones, and utility aircraft. Linear actuators translate rotary motion into linear motion and generally share similar features and applications with their rotary counterparts.
